👩‍🌾 32 Participants 📅 2 Sessions 🌱 Majority Women

Training Content

  • Organic pest control (preparation & application)
  • Natural repellents and biopesticides
  • Mulching (organic & nylon mulch)
  • Crop rotation & intercropping
  • Introduction to Jaavarmaruth organic biofertilizer

Adoption & Practice

5 women adopted organic pest control methods, while 15 participants applied soil improvement techniques.

Observed Changes

  • Short-term (1–2 months): Healthier crops, greener vegetation, reduced pest incidence.
  • Medium-term (3–6 months): Improved yields, better soil condition, reduced chemical dependence.
  • At least 6 women reported notable outcomes, with one participant training two additional farmers.

Trainee Feedback

Participants valued pest management tips, homemade remedies, and biopesticide preparation. They appreciated the use of locally available solutions, but suggested stronger postharvest loss reduction strategies.

Challenges & Recommendations

  • Biopesticides alone were not always effective for heavy infestations.
  • Region-specific application rates should be developed for better results.
  • Continued emphasis on soil health, quality seeds, and good farming practices is recommended.

Impact Summary

  • Skills & Knowledge: 32 farmers (majority women) trained and empowered.
  • Adoption: Over 20 participants applied organic farming methods.
  • Ripple Effect: Knowledge spreading through peer-to-peer training.
  • Community Benefit: Healthier soils, safer food production, reduced chemical use.
